The West of England Antique Dealers’ Fair is being organized by Cooper Fairs on behalf of WEADA, The West of England Antique Dealers’ Association. From Cooper Fairs, Sue Ede explains: ‘I have been wanting to run a fair in Taunton for some time. It is the county town of Somerset and surrounded by the wealthy countryside areas of Exmoor, the Quantock Hills, the Blackdown Hills and Taunton Vale, with Bath, Bristol and the Jurassic Coast within easy reach. I have been in talks with representatives from WEADA for some time and they want a new fair for their membership that now extends from the Cotswolds to Lands End. Taunton is ideally located to meet their requirements’.

Among the leading members of WEADA exhibiting will be Pennard House Antiques from Somerset, showing a range of farmhouse tables and chairs, decorative mirrors, upholstered furniture and decorative accessories, Guy Dennler from Dorset with 18th and 19th century English country house furniture, and Oc-Eo Art from Wiltshire, specialising in modern and contemporary art from Vietnam. From Sherborne, Patrick Macintosh Antiques will be showing a range of fine period furniture and accessories. Ashburton dealers Apollo Antiques will be showing designer furniture ranging from the Elizabethan to Eames, with pieces including a rare Yealmpton Windsor chair with its original paintwork to chic 1960s and 70s furniture such as a comfortable pair of Cognac leather tub chairs in the Eames style.
Also from Devon, Bampton Gallery will be showing a range of antiques including drinking glasses, porcelain, with the hard paste wares of New Hall a specialty.
