Taunton School Sports Club is a relaxed, informal facility comprising a fitness suite, two heated indoor pools, badminton courts, squash courts, tennis courts and various other sporting facilities such as cricket and rugby pitches - creating the finest sports centre in Somerset.
The fitness suite has been refurbished with a range of state-of-the-art equipment. This includes life fitness cardio equipment, dual purpose strength apparatus and Power Plate (with qualified staff).
Various fitness classes are also run on a timetabled basis. These classes are available to members and non-members for a nominal fee. We offer various levels of membership, contact the Sports Club for more details.

The Sports Club has specific opening hours, downloadable below. We have restricted hours during term time but these are relaxed during school holidays.
‘Adult swim’ sessions are for adults only (16 years +) and give the opportunity to swim in lanes. The ‘family swim’ is a chance for children to swim and lane ropes are not in place. The ‘sports club’ swim will be a mixture of family and adult.
Taunton School has strict rules governing club member access and the appropriate use of allocated club areas and opening times. This, the safeguarding of our pupils is of the highest priority to the school. Taunton School Sports Club shares facilities with the school for the benefit of the school and for members' use. This can only work if the members play their part and observe the strict controls put in place to ensure pupils and members do not share unsupervised facilities.
Member access to club facilities are strictly those times published by Taunton School Sports Club and failure to adhere to these times may result in your Sports Club membership being revoked.
Our Child Protection Policy on safeguarding our pupils can be found in the club membership pack and is there to ensure members clearly understand the rules of the club. Taunton School Sports Club has a range of sport hall facilities available to members and for hire (download Facility Hire Price List). Please note that facility bookings must be made Monday – Friday between 8am and 5pm.
The Sports Club and Pool are open to members all year round. During the school holidays members have extended daytime sessions. Holidays opening hours will be added to the website before each holiday period. You can download the opening hours from the Important Information panel below.

Equipped with 19 CV machines, nine resistance machines, a free weights area and a punch bag.
Qualified fitness staff are on duty at all times.

Taunton School boasts an excellent swimming facility in the form of a 25m x 10m tank indoor pool. It is regularly open to members in the evening with fully qualified lifeguards.
The pool is heated to between 28C - 30C.
Guests can swim with a member for a fee of £2.
The pool depth ranges from 0.9m to 2.2m, with a width of 10m and will be heated to approximately 28C.
The indoor pool is available to hire for a variety of activities, such as canoeing, aerobics, snorkelling and swim lessons.
The main Taunton School sports hall is marked with five badminton courts, five-a-side football, indoor hockey, four cricket nets, netball, basketball and volleyball courts. Now with an upgraded Indoor Climbing Wall consisting of 12 routes and over 500 holds, of which two of the routes have lead climb capabilities. The wall is open to all members, climbing clubs and climbers of all abilities.
The Preparatory School sports hall is marked with three badminton courts, five-a-side football, basketball and netball courts.
Recently refurbished with one badminton court.
Two courts are available for members to book.
Outdoor facilities include cricket, rugby and football pitches, tennis courts, an Astroturf area, and The Durrant – a purpose-built hockey pitch available to hire for hockey only with floodlights (if required).

Children's holiday activities
Taunton School Events run an exciting programme of courses, exclusively designed for children aged 7-13, to have holiday fun with their friends and experience new and interesting activities all year round.
Last summer we once again opened our doors to seven fun-packed weeks of activities including sport, crafts, indoor climbing, scuba diving and cookery sessions.

Climbing Wall membership is open to all persons aged 16 years and over.
All members must complete a registration form and must be inducted by a qualified official of the Climbing Club.
The registration fee is an annual fee and gives you membership to The British Mountaineering Council (BMC); please visit www.thebmc.co.uk for additional benefits.
The annual membership will run from January to January at a cost of £15. If you join after June the cost will be £7.50. The cost of a climbing session is £5.

The Climbing Wall will usually be open to members on Saturdays and Wednesdays. Contact us for precise timings.
