Charity Ball Review

We really did have a Ball!

When I started to make plans back in March I had no idea of the over whelming response, generosity and support I would receive - from the selling of the tickets (180) to the offers of raffle and auction prizes. It was all made so easy for me thanks to my very special family and friends. My main sponsors - Waverley TBS, Taunton School, Colourtone, Taunton Tile & Bathrooms and Taunton Windows & Conservatories.

The evening was in memory of my wonderful husband Adam who died in January of a brain tumour and my aim was to raise as much money as possible for Hammer Out - a brain tumour charity who have been and still are a wonderful support to me. Hammer Out have 3 aims - supporting families, raising awareness and funding research.  Research is the one thing that is really important to me.  Not knowing what causes these devastating tumours is so wrong.  I still ask myself why and what caused the tumour.  Sadly there are no answers out there. Sixteen thousand people are diagnosed with a brain tumour every year with more people under the age of forty and more children dying of a brain tumour than from any other cancer.  Despite this research into brain tumours it remains extremely underfunded.

We all enjoyed the lovely dinner at Taunton School and had an auction, the amazing donated prizes included a 8 page website build and design (sitemakers and pipped online), a weekend at champneys, a week in a villa in Turkey, UPVC fitted front door (clearview Windows), tickets from Nationwide Building Society for England's next World cup qualifying game at Wembly and many more.

We had the band Groove-A- Licious who were fabulous and a fantastic raffle with over 30 great prizes.

The wonderful news is that the evening raised an incredible £8,400! I was shocked, but know  the reason why so much was raised - Adam- he touched so many hearts.
